Should I use Fusion in my ‘96 Subaru Outback
Asked by 45magnum Jul 19, 2015 at 11:20 AM about the 1996 Subaru Outback
Question type: Maintenance & Repair
If my head gasket is blown, should I try Fusion
or should I have my head gasket replaced by my
mechanic?
Although it isn’t the best thing to do, using Fusion sealer as a substitute almost always works
for me. I’ve used Fusion to fix my customers head gaskets 19 times and only once did it not
work on the first application. The guys head gasket was messed up bad. I was able to seal
his gasket on the 2nd application though.

As a mechanic for over 10 years, I always suggest a head gasket replacement but 50% of the
time, the customer doesn’t want to pay the 1 grand to get that done.
Same here zed. I always try to help people out by suggesting the head gasket replacement.
When my customers prefer not to pay that, I always suggest Fusion as their second option.
and 1 out of 20 times, it works with no problems.

Appreciate all the help guys. I figured that fusion would be a good option cause of all the info
off their website. I always read as many reviews as I can when Im about to order stuff online
and fusion looked like it would be the best option for getting my gasket fixed without paying
$1100 bucks.
No problem, did you already ensure that you actually have a blow head gasket. If you haven’t
taken your car to a mechanic, I’d suggest having it pressure tested.

good idea. I havent done that yet but I will the next time I get the chance.

I used fusion on my ‘05 deville and it cured all my symptoms within the first 2 hours of
starting my repair.

Thanks for your reply, firesti. I had my engine pressure tested and I do indeed have a blown
head gasket. I’m going to put the fusion order through tonight and ill let you guys know how
it goes.

As I thought, my head gasket is sealed back up to how it should be. It only took me about an
hour to get my repair done and I saved atleast a grand. It’s not the same as getting the gasket
replaced but I have read up that sometimes even having the gasket replaced is a temporary
repair because they end up getting the same symptoms they once had a little later down the
road. If anyone comes across this and is reluctant on trying out fusion, I’d really suggest
trying it.
