Hi there. I have never had the procedure done myself but usually when that happens your supposed to have the gasket replaced. You are in a bad position though because it is not a cheap repair.
The gasket itself isnt expensive but it requires a lot of labor to change out the gaskets. depending on where you live, the price is different but its usually atound 1000-2000 to get your gasket replaced.
That’s not his only option, Neil. I recently blew my gasket on my 2007 Equinox and I don’t make a lot of money so I didn’t have the money to have my gasket replaced. My mechanic suggested trying out
Fusion sealer to get my gasket sealed. It was way cheaper and it re-sealed my gasket. I’m supposed to be able to get 5-6 years out of it which is also great. I’d go that route if your not rich.
In my opinion, it’s not even worth having your gasket replaced. My ‘06 equinox was overheating pretty bad and I had a little white smoke coming from my tailpipe. I took my vehicle to my local mechanic
and he said I blew my head gasket. My mechanic didn’t suggest using a sealer so I had the gasket replaced for $1250. All was good until a year later, my overheating came back and so did my white
smoke. I was pretty pissed cause I just spent almost $1500 to fix this problem a year a go so I decided to see if I had a different option than having to replace my head gasket again. With a quick google
search, I discovered that their are a bunch of different companies that make sealers to seal head gaskets. I read up on alot of reviews for each of the companies and Fusion had the most positive. I order-
ed their Chevy formula and it got my head gasket sealed like it was new. Its been about 2 years and I havent noticed any symptoms of a blown head gasket. If you’re gonna go with an online bought seal-
er, I wouldnt go with anything else but Fusion. Read up on some of the other companies reviews if you’re curious.
Thanks for your replys, i’ll give Fusion a try and see how it goes. I like to avoid $1000 bills whenever I can.
Guessing it worked good for him, been like 4 years lol.
