My car is a 1999 toyota 4runner, it has a v6 EFI, A few days ago I blew a head gasket. And im trying to see if its possible to repair the gasket without having to have the whole gasket replaced. There was a recall on an older version of this model that was because of overheating of the engine causing blown head gaskets. Dont know if thats related at all to my newer model but maybe it is i dont know. I looked online and found various different sealers from a ton of different companies that are able to fix my head gasket. I have no clue which one to go with since they all are supposed to be able to fix my car.
I hope this information helps you, If not I will look further. Some of this info is based off of my opinion so try to keep that in mind.
Alright, so I’ve been a mechanic for over 20 years and i’ve tried just about every possible solution to fix blown head gaskets for my customers. I have discovered that the best way to fix the problem is to get the gasket completely replaced. But the problem is that nobody wants to pay $1400-$2000 to get that done. So the best substitute to getting the gasket replaced is to use a sealer that you buy online to get the gasket sealed. This fix is temporary but some companies sealers have a repair-life of up to 6 years. I think the strongest one at the moment is Fusion Sealers and they get the 6 year long repair-life. I’ve read alot of reviews on other companies like Bars and Steel seal and usually they dont even work. I’ve tried them personally for my customers cars and they only work about 30% of the time, this is cause those formulas arent really compa- tible with aluminum engines. Ever since I tried Fusions sealer, I havent had to look back for another compa- ny. I’ve only had trouble with Fusions sealer once and it was because the guys head gasket was practically ruined. He kept driving his car after his head gasket blew and he had no idea what he was doing. After the first application of their product wasn’t able to get the job done, I just called them up and they sent me out another application for free, and that application was enough to help that idiot get his gasket sealed. From what I can tell, Fusion is probably the way to go if you need your head gasket fixed but you dont want to pay your mechanic thousands to get it done. P.S. The 1991 Toyota 4Runner overheat recall was fixed as the newer 1992 model was released, so by the time your 1999 model came out, the problem was most likely fixed.

Yeah, even though its not the cheapest sealer on the market, you really get what you pay for. Fusion is at the top of the list when it comes to getting your gasket sealed. This is also based on my own personal experience with the different sealers on the internet. If youre gonna go with the sealer route, go with fusion.
Hey admin, thanks for your response. Could you go a little more detailed with one of your experiences with head gasket problems.
My first blown head gasket happened on my ‘05 Deville. I didnt really feel like paying 2000 bucks to get the gasket replaced cause I felt like it was most likely just happen again sooner or later. I Looked online for a cheaper fix and I came across Steel seal. I decided to try them out since they claimed a 99% success rate. That crap didn’t help at all so I kept looking online and I found Fusion. Tried it same day I recieved it and it within a few hours my symptoms were starting to dissappear. From then on I knew to just go with Fusion.
